Thinking About a Child's Electic Guitar? Here's Some Good Advice

By Steve Murray

If your child is under the age of 10 and would like to learn how to play an electric guitar then the size of instrument you purchase is crucial. Remember when you are thinking of buying a child's electric guitar the one you purchase shouldn't be too large because they will find it difficult to play. But also it shouldn't be too small otherwise they could outgrow it very quickly.

Many of the world's guitar makers today now produce smaller sized guitars that are suitable for children to play. If your child is aged between 6 and 10 years then going for a ¾ size guitar that measures around 30 inches is going to be the best option. Whereas for children aged between 3 and 6 years a ½ size guitar is going to be the best one for them.

However, it isn't just your child's age which will determine the size of electric guitar that you purchase for them. Your child's height is also going to be a factor in what size instrument that you purchase for your son or daughter. The taller your child is the larger size instrument that they will need. For example if your son at the age of 9 is nearly 5 ft tall it would be much wiser to invest in a full size rather than a child's size electric guitar.

Along with the child's age and height being taken into consideration when it comes to you investing money in an electric guitar how much are you willing to spend. Unfortunately when it comes to electric guitars the more you spend the much better quality instrument you will get. In fact if you want to ensure that your childs electric guitar lasts for a number of years to come, sounds good and is easy to learn on then it is worth spending that little extra on a good quality instrument.
