Learning to make music with your computer

I'm The head producer for Technica Projections. My music making experience extents beyond 20 years, through trial, error and frustration. Back in the early 90's It was a lot tougher than it is now. At that time the making electronic music with a computer was in its early stages. Now days The software, tutorials and the help of other producers has made the journey a little easier.

To get started You will need a sequencer,some vsti's a Midi controller and a decent soundcard.We have experienced many of the sequencers on the market.Cubase, Logic, sonar, Acid Pro, Ableton. We have found that ableton Live best suits our needs.All the sequencers basically do the same thing.Its just a matter of whats most confortble to you. We have found that Ableton Live suits our needs the best. The next thing you need is some vsti's.These are virtualy instruments,which we will play just like a piano with our midi controller.We then open up our chosen sequencer, load a vsti and start playing cool music. If you want to add some drums, you will need some drumloops or if you prefer to be even more creative you can get some one shot samples and write your own beats.Just be very careful of using any drumloops that arent yours due to copywrights.

Now what I reccomend personally is: soundcard: M-audio Audiophile 24/96 midi controller: M-audio Radium49 Vsti's: There are plent out there that are free.You just have to google for them.

Technica Projections: Technica projection found electronic music in the early 90's. It actually took quite a long time for him to realize that he could one day make music of his own. After a friend showed him what could be done with a regular PC and a simple tracker program, he started laying down his own beats and adding his own feel for it while adding certain effects which was signiture for his future sound.

He soon moved on to sound modules in need of better sounds and more variety. Then came along were virtual instruments with a wide variety of array of sounds.

Technica Projections seemed fated for the present leadership role in new musical directions and innovations. Establishing a electronica genre was not what we had in mind. Just one of those things that were fated for our music.
