Musical Mind Reader, a new way to listen to music.

by Herrit Son

How can somebody be a musical mind reader? To tell the future of a song or read the mind of a composer? It is a magical ability I tell you, almost like being able to recompose any song on the spot. And it can be achieved!

It's not only about amazing other musicians or developing more confidence in your playing (or singing), it's about learning to enjoy music from a new level and perspective.

I've been playing piano for years (have taught some people also), and I feel more comfortable with my abilities, day by day, after discovering how to "predict" music. Stress levels when performing in public have diminished for good.

The most fun part comes when you begin to sing songs that you haven't even heard before (you should look at the faces of my children when I reassured them that the "hits" they've been listening to, are remakes of old time classics, but of course I've been teasing them... I simply was able to sing along, even though it was the first time I heard them).

To tell the truth, I'm feeling like I had this ability all along, but I just needed the proper training to make it happen, to re-ignite my love and interest for music.

Here is what happened to me: once I trained my mind to listen to music in a new way, to recognize the family of chords, and to get a "premonition" of what's the most probable next chord, I began to feel that "practicing" before playing, like I used to, was actually wrong. It's like not believing in your abilities. Practice a piece of music is not learning from scratch anymore, it's enriching what I already know. (That's what Socrates was telling, no?)

The relationship between our minds and sound can be interesting (to say the least)! Everybody can be a musical mind reader, believe it.
